Exploring the Qur'an
The Qur'an has been interpreted countless times over the centuries. But how often has the translation or interpretation stayed true to the original language? This course helps peel back the many sticky layers of understanding influenced by culture, language barriers, and other complications that have resulted in widespread confusion about this very special text. This course takes place in English and students do not need a background in Arabic to participate in and benefit from this course. We also offer an Arabic-immersive class featuring the same content and approach.
As we carefully examine the original Arabic meanings of the Qur’anic verses, we can see a clear and timeless message that is easily translated to life in America today. Our institutional emphasis on critical thinking, character development, and cooperative co-existence with one's neighbors and the greater community guides us to applying what we learn as we become our most responsible, aware, and capable selves.
This class is open to all adults, and is especially supportive to parents, who play a sublimely important role in their children's education. Raising children in a manner that is mentally, physically, and spiritually balanced requires keen aptitude, persistence, and determination. Nas Learning Center is honored to support parents in this endeavor by helping adults become the best versions of themselves, capable of confidently guiding and instilling strong values in their children.
The light of true knowledge is the only weapon to dispel the darkness of ignorance. Light a candle with us!
The course meets during the school year over Zoom on Sundays at 11:30 am EST (young adults), 1:00 pm EST (advanced), and 1:00 pm MST (beginner). Zoom link will be provided upon registration.
Please call or email the center for late registrations.
